Shadowban meaning
“Shadowban” is the common name for visibility limits you aren't told about. Your account works normally — you can post, reply and like — but fewer people see what you do. X itself talks about reduced reach and visibility filtering rather than “shadowbans”, but the effect people describe is the same.
The types of shadowban on X

What tends to trigger it
X doesn't publish a list, but the commonly reported patterns are behaviour that looks automated or spammy:
- Following or unfollowing many accounts in a short time.
- Posting the same text or links repeatedly, or mass-mentioning accounts.
- Lots of blocks or reports from other users.
- A brand-new account posting heavily, or suspicious login activity.
- Content flagged as possibly violating the rules (which may also get a visible label).
